Nighthouse 05:00
Verse 1 We were sunken ships in the cushions of your couch reluctant to abandon that boarded lighthouse The nights grew darker once our light bulb burned out and now we're residing in a rundown nighthouse Chorus And I stand by our bedroom door, not welcome anymore You let me in then sleep on the floor So I curl up and pray in the bed of sin we made, begging for a way, to break out of this haunted nighthouse Verse 2 There's an ocean raging outside of closed blinds over my eyes and they won't open when your lips are pressed against mine Oh, I can't live in this somber room without sunlight If you close the curtains I'll have my bags packed by night Chorus And I stand by our bedroom door, not welcome anymore You let me in then choose to ignore How I curl up and pray in this bed so afraid, we'll never find a way to breakdown the walls of this house Bridge Let me out of the dark, of the dark He washes up to me like high tide onto shore and ev'ry time he leaves I dry up thirsting for more So crash down over me you can soak into my sandy pores We'll never be at peace if your at sea and I'm onshore Tag Tear down the bars and fix our broken light A beacon of hope could save this haunted site and guide us through the night, through the night Ending Verse But I won't stay here with your weary ghost On the nightstand, I left a note and in the morning that ferry horn will blow but as it wakes you, I'll be on the next boat

FOR SALE 03:54
Verse 1 I was swinging on my closed-in porch watching the rain, rocking back and forth, when a trailer backed in your driveway I've seen the FOR SALE sign camped out your front lawn I just never thought you'd leave that house and move on Chorus Did you find a letter on your porch last week? It's under your doormat by the spare key 'cause I need an answer before you leave tonight by my bright front porch light Verse 2 It's pouring down too hard to go outside so climb up creaky stairs to the attic in your mind and go through old boxes logically packed away You might come across some reasons to stay Chorus If you find my letter that I left last week make sure you respond right before you leave 'cause I'll be waiting for you across the street tonight by my bright front porch light Bridge I just wrote to tell you that I"m doing okay and if you come over it's never too late The rain's supposed to slow down sometime tonight around 10 There's still time to talk and start over again Down Chorus When you lock your front door before you leave look over your shoulder across the street 'Cause if you decide to stay in town tonight I'll wait by my bright porch light I just wrote to tell you that I'm okay and if you come over I will light the way
3.
Verse 1 I leave a lamp on by the window so you can see that I'm still home patiently knitting in my rocking chair waiting up for you to care Did you ever care? Chorus Fly away into Never Never Land must be content living in ignorance Oh, Peter Pan, here I am It's late at night and I can't fall asleep alone tonight Verse 2 I could freeze leaving my window cracked, waiting on a boy might never come back A chilling breeze blows in falling snow and you stay out and play while I grow old in this bitter cold Chorus So, fly away into Never Never Land and get lost in your own ignorance Oh, Peter Pan, I need a man It's almost light and you're not here so I might close my eyes Bridge You and I forever, growing old together, rocking on our front porch watching the sun go down Please tell me what just happened everything was so perfect You and I forever, growing old together, rocking on our front porch watching the sun go down Please tell me what just happened everything was so perfect You were perfect I turned my lamp off by the window so you can see no one is home

Peter Pan's Verse The lamp is turned off by your window and it looks like nobody's home Why aren't you rocking in your chair? I just went out for some air Are you even there anymore? Peter Pan's Chorus Did you think I would never land? Did you think I'm the type of man to leave you? No, that wouldn't be fair Wendy Darling, don't you know I care Wendy's Verse I had a dream you flew in last night You showed up when I closed my eyes Peter Pan I'm out here looking through your window Please, don't leave me standing in the snow This morning's cold without you Peter Pan's Chorus (Wendy echoes) Did you think (I thought you would never land) Did you think (I thought your the type of man) to leave you (you left me) Growing old and (it wasn't fair) You're a woman that needs (I need to know you care) Peter Pan's Bridge Don't you know me better? I needed time to come around Wendy You were gone forever How was I to know you'd come down from the clouds? Peter Pan I just needed time away Wendy I needed you to stay Peter Pan Please, try to understand Wendy You are years too late Wendy's Chorus Did you think time would stop? You'd return, and turn back the clock? Look around, so much has changed I've grown up since then and you haven't aged Wendy's Chorus (Peter Pan echoes) Did you think (I thought time would stop) You'd return (I'm right here, let's turn back the clock) Look around (I'm aware) So much has (I'm to blame) I've grown up since then (I promise I've changed) Did you think (I thought time would stop) You'd return (I'm right here, let's turn back the clock) Look around (I'm aware) So much has (I'm to blame) I've grown up since then (I promise I've changed)

about

There is a flicker of light in each song, but the character is mostly surrounded by darkness. This person is hiding. Not out of fear of the dark, but of the light. People aren't afraid of the dark. Darkness is comfortable because you can live in your pain and very few will actually notice. They are afraid of the light because it exposes them. But, the problem with staying in the dark is that it's hard to see anything except your own sorrow and pain. There is a time to grieve, but there is also a time to walk in the light again.
